PNoy appoints new COA commissioner

President Benigno Aquino III has appointed lawyer Isabel Dasalla-Agito as ad interim Commissioner of the Commission on Audit (COA), Malacañang announced Friday.

Agito takes over the post left by Heidi Mendoza, who was named acting COA chief in February 2015, replacing Grace Pulido-Tan. Mendoza was previously appointed by United Nations secretary-general Ban Ki-moon as head of UN’s internal oversight office.

“According to Executive Secretary Paquito Ochoa Jr., President Aquino has appointed Atty. Isabel B. Dasalla-Agito as ad interim Commissioner, Commission on Audit, for a term expiring on 02 February 2018, vice the Hon. Heidi L. Mendoza,” said Communications Secretary Herminio Coloma, Jr.

According to Coloma, Agito is a lawyer and a certified public accountant. She previously worked as Senior external auditor for the United Nations Board of Auditors and was also resident auditor for various government agencies. -NB, GMA News
