Michael V. tells Pinoys to vote wisely in GMA's new Dapat Tama video

On May 9, the Filipinos will troop to the polls to choose the country's new leaders.

To remind the electorate the importance of voting wisely, GMA Network launched on Friday night the revamped “Dapat Tama” election advocacy featuring comedian Michael V. also known as Bitoy.

Aside from interpreting the advocacy song, Michael V. also transformed into three characters representing politicians who don’t deserve the people’s vote – Congresswoman Mimi Hasa, Governor Gary Palan, and Mayor Delly N. Sha.

“Inalam ko kung ano talaga ang gawi nila. Ano ang common sa mga taong ito. Minsan hindi mo nakikita. Very subtle iyong ginagawa nila eh,” Bitoy said on GMA’s 24 Oras.

Although the comedian used humor in the advocacy to get a message across, the song is still firm in its push for reforms not only among candidates, but most especially among the electorate.

“Sama-sama nating itama ang mali / Nang ang bayan nati’y makabangon muli,” Bitoy sings.

GMA Network’s election advocacy “Dapat Tama” was a concept by anchor Jessica Soho which was brought to life by the GMA News and Public Affairs for the midterm senatorial elections in 2013. The song was originally performed by rapper Gloc-9, who also penned the song together with Jonathan Ong.

The previous campaign won accolades such as the 2013 CMMA Best Secular Song and Best Music Video, the 2014 New York Festival Bronze World Medal for Music Video, and the 49th Anvil Awards Merit Honors. -Trisha Macas/NB, GMA News
