2 soldiers, civilian seriously wounded by Jolo sniper
ZAMBOANGA CITY -- Two soldiers and a civilian were seriously wounded in an attack by a lone gunman in the town of Indanan in Jolo island, the military reported Saturday. Air Force Capt. Jose Ritchie Pabilonia, a spokesman for the Armed Forces of the Philippines Southern Command (Southcom), did not identify the wounded soldiers but said they were assigned to the Armyââ¬â¢s 51st Infantry Battalion. In the sniper-like attack around noon, the soldiers were shot in the face and head. They are still in serious condition at a military hospital in Jolo. The condition of the civilian, Amil Katra Mohammad, is still unknown. No group or individual claimed responsibility for the attack, but the area is a known stronghold of the Abu Abu Sayyaf group, which is reportedly linked with terror groups Jemaah Islamiyah and Al-Qaeda.-GMANews.TV
