Poe returns to Jaro Cathedral where she was abandoned as an infant

JARO, Iloilo — Away from the media's eyes, Senator Grace Poe on Tuesday passed through one of Jaro Metropolitan Cathedral's side entrance doors just as darkness was setting in. There, she knelt on a pew and prayed.

A presidential candidate whose disqualification by the Commission on Elections is currently on appeal before the Supreme Court, Poe spent about five minutes in solitude before going to the church's main aisle where she was greeted by reporters and supporters.

She did not grant any interviews to the media, but stopped by every now and then to chat and pose for photos with her supporters.

It was at Jaro Metropolitan Cathedral where Poe was found as an abandoned infant in 1968.

Before exiting the church, Poe stopped by the water font where she was said to have been found and touched the stone structure.

She stayed inside the church's premises for about 20 minutes before crossing over to the plaza across it for her Partido Galing at Puso's campaign rally.

Poe's camp had described the senator's Iloilo sortie as a "sentimental" visit because this is what she considers to be her known birthplace.

Her biological parents are unknown. She is the adopted child of the late action star Fernando Poe Jr. and his wife Susan Roces. —KBK, GMA News
