Manny Pacquiao's pronouncements comparing gay people to animals and his subsequent apology has made waves not just in the Philippines, but around the world.
Apart from coming under fire from local celebrities and lesbian, gay, transgender, and bisexual (LGBT) advocates, Pacquiao drew the ire of celebrity blogger Perez Hilton, who called Pacquiao's view messed up.
International media outlets also picked up the story, with television networks such as the BBC and CNN carrying the story on their website.
Sports channels ESPN and Fox Sports also both posted an Associated Press article on the issue in their respective sites.
Among newspapers that have picked up the story are The Guardian, The Independent, The Telegraph, and The Sun.

Pacquiao, who is running for the Senate under the banner of the United Nationalist Alliance, has apologized for comparing gay people to animals, but reiterated his stand against gay marriage. —JST, GMA News
