Lauro Vizconde laid to rest as kin cry for justice
The Vizconde family was reunited Wednesday during the burial of Lauro Vizconde at the Manila Memorial Park, a report by radio dzBB's Tuesday Sagun-Niu on QRT said.
The report said the bones of Vizconde's wife Estrelita and daughters Carmela and Jennifer were brought to the Manila Memorial Park from the Holy Cross Memorial Park where they were first buried.
It added the bones, placed in three square plastic containers, were brought by a group of friends and family who met the funeral car carrying Vizconde's remains in a fashion similar to the Holy Week tradition "Salubong."
The report quoted Dante Jimenez of the Volunteers Against Crime and Corruption that Vizconde, who died late Saturday afternoon at the age of 77, is now in peace with his family.
Vizconde's wife and daughters were brutally murdered inside their home in Parañaque City in June 1991 while he was on a business trip in the United States.
Several men, including Hubert Webb, son of former Senator Freddie Webb, were convicted for the crime in 2000, but the Supreme Court overturned the decision in 2010.
Relatives and friends who attended the burial mourned that Vizconde died before obtaining justice for the killings of his family members. —Jessica Bartolome/KBK, GMA News
