Binay vs. Poe is most tweeted moment in second leg of PiliPinas Debates 2016

The heated exchange between Vice President Jejomar Binay and Senator Grace Poe on renouncing one's citizenship and stealing from the country's coffers got the most mentions on Twitter during the second leg of the Pilipinas Debate 2016.

“Paano ka magiging tunay na Pilipino kung sumumpa ka sa ibang bansa?” Binay asked Poe. “Sabi mo sa renouncement mo, ‘I will abjure,’ ikinahihiya mo ang pagiging Pilipino,” Binay told Poe during their face off.

Poe at one time renounced her Filipino citizenship to become an American. She said in previous interviews that she lived in the US to be with her family and earn also earn a living.

"Nasa paninilbihan yan. Manatili ka man sa bayan natin kung nangulimbat ka naman," Poe told Binay.

After Binay said that Poe was talking as if he was already convicted of corruption, the senator said she was not accusing him of anything but was speaking about corruption in general.

"Sinasabi ko bang ikaw yung nangulimbat ka ng pera?" Poe said.

The second most tweeted moment was the exchange between Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte and former Interior Secretary Mar Roxas.

"You are a pretentious leader.... You are a fraud," Duterte told Roxas.

Duterte, who said he was on the ground after the typhoon struck on November 8, 2013, said Roxas was “lost like a zombie” when he was in Tacloban City, the center of destruction of the super typhoon.

Raising his voice, Roxas insisted he was on top of the disaster response operations after the typhoon hit.

“Nandoon ako, nagpapatakbo ng mga meeting. Nandoon lahat ng mga heneral, nandoon si Secretary Voltz Gazmin, Secretary Dinky Soliman. On the second day, nandoon ang Pangulo. Paano mo sasabihin na wala ako doon? I was [there] sa mga meeting na 'yun,” Roxas said.

The debate generated 1.04 million tweets, according to Commission on Elections Chairman Andres Bautista.
