Gabriela leads 25 party-list groups in latest SWS poll 


Seventeen party-list groups led by the Gabriela Party-list are poised to qualify for at least one seat in the House of Representatives in the May 9 elections, according to the latest Social Weather Stations -BusinessWorld (SWS-BW) survey released Monday.

Gabriela got 6.20 percent in the survey conducted from March 30 to April 2.

AMIN followed Gabriela with 5.77 percent, KABAYAN 5.19 percent, SENIOR CITIZENS with 4.62 percent, AGRI with 4.41 percent and ANG KABUHAYAN with 4.17 percent.

The other party-list candidates that may have a guaranteed seat in the House of Representatives were: ACT TEACHERS (3.25 percent), BAYAN MUNA (3.13 percent), AN WARAY (3.05 percent), AGAP (2.93 percent), AKBAYAN (2.86 percent), BUHAY (2.75 percent), KALINGA (2.71 percent), AASENSO (2.58 percent), AKO BICOL (2.20 percent), AAMBIS-OWA (2.12 percent) and YACAP (2.07 percent).


The SWS said that party-list candidates that were able to get at least two percent in the survey are guaranteed to qualify for at least one seat of the 59 maximum seats in Congress' lower chamber.

“The remaining 42 seats will be allocated to the parties above and the parties next in rank until all available seats are distributed, with the condition that any qualified party is entitled to a maximum of only three seats,” SWS said.

Based on the computation on the distribution of party-list seats, 25 parties are poised to also receive at least one party-list seat, including 1-ANG EDUKASYON, A TEACHER, INC., ABAKADA, MAGDALO, COOP-NATCCO, PBA, KABATAAN, ABONO, ANAC-IP, ABAMIN, 1PACMAN, 1-CARE, ACTS-OFW, 1-PABAHAY, AWAT MINDANAO, TAMA, BUTIL, LPGMA, 1-SAGIP, ASEAN, INC., ALAY BUHAY, ABANG LINGKOD, AANGAT TAYO, GLOBAL, and DIWA.

The SWS said that the survey had sampling error margins of ±3% for national percentages, and ±6% each for Metro Manila, North Luzon, South Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.

It said that the survey was conducted using face-to-face interviews of 1,500 adults nationwide.

Of the total panel respondents, the firm said 1,377 or 92 percent are validated voters.

The SWS said that the respondents were asked to choose from a list of candidates during the survey. —ALG, GMA News
