DepEd to reopen voucher program applications Apr. 22

The Department of Education will reopen applications for the Senior High School Voucher Program on April 22 to accommodate more Grade 10 completers to pursue Senior High School education in  private schools, universities and colleges.

In a report on its website on Saturday, the DepEd also said all applications must be done online by accessing the Online Voucher Application Portal (OVAP) of the Private Education Assistance Committee (PEAC) at http://ovap.deped.gov.ph

The DepEd closed the voucher program applications last February   15.

In Saturday's report the DepEd said that at present more than 50,000 Grade 10 completers from non-Education Service Contracting (ESC) grantees were awarded vouchers.

Under the voucher program, students are provided with a subsidy that enables them to get a discount on the cost of tuition and other school fees for their senior high school studies.

Deadline of the reopened applications will be on May 6 only—it is non-extendable, and that the results will be announced on or before May 20, 2016, the DepEd said.

Concerns and queries regarding the ESC and SHS Voucher programs can be directed to gastpe@deped.gov.ph or to the DepEd Action Center at (02) 636-1663 or (02) 633-1942. — LBG, GMA News
