PILIPINAS DEBATES 2016

If any of his kids uses illegal drugs, Duterte says, ‘Patayin mo’

Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte is willing to have his children killed if any one of them is found to be using illegal drugs.

"Patayin mo," Duterte said when asked during the Pangasinan leg of the PiliPinas Debates 2016 what he would do if his children were into illegal drugs.

"My order is, even if it is a member of my family, kill him," he added during the Fast Talk segment of the debate.

Fast Talk is a series of two-minute segments where each presidential candidate was asked a list of questions that ranged from personal to political.

Asked whether the US will no longer be an ally of the Philippines if he becomes president, Duterte said, "Sila lang naman nag-aaway."

Duterte last week indicated that he was open to severing ties with the country's allies, the US and Australia, after the nations' ambassadors commented on his supposed joke about the rape in 1989 of an Australian missionary.

"It was a response to a question coming from media. It was a concocted, hypothetical question and I was only replying to it," Duterte said.

He, however, said it was up to the US if it would stop being an ally of the Philippines. "Yes, kung gusto nila."

Duterte also said he was ready to kill and declare Martial Law if the situation calls for it.

Duterte said, "Kung takot kang mamatay, takot kang pumatay, huwag kang mag-Presidente."

Duterte was also asked what situations would push him to declare Martial Law and he replied, "Rebellion, lawless violence."

Asked if it was possible for Martial Law to be declared under his administration, Duterte said, "No, hindi na ganoon kalawak ang rebellion natin." —NB, GMA News
