Trillanes: Duterte has undeclared properties aside from P2.4-B in bank transactions
Aside from undeclared mllions of pesos in the bank, presidential candidate Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte has undeclared properties, some of them in the country, independent vice presidential candidate Senator Antonio Trillanes IV said on Friday.
Trillanes said investigation and validation efforts are ongoing.
"Hindi natin pwedeng sabihin sa ngayon baka ma-preempt ... Vina-validate pa natin ... pero meron dito" sa bansa, Trillanes said in an interview on Unang Balita when pressed for a hint where these alleged properties might be.
Trillanes also reiterated his challenge to Duterte to prove him wrong in saying that the mayor has billions of pesos in bank transactions.
Also in the TV interview, Trillanes confirmed an earlier news report that from 2009 to 2011 Duterte has had bank transactions amounting to P2.4 billion.
Trillanes said, "Harapin na niya ang isyu ... Meron bang P2.4 billion transactions o wala?"
"Ito ay tip of the iceberg lang sa mga bangkong nasilip natin particularly sa BPI Julia Vargas. Meron ding konti sa BDO branch, pero P550,000. Dito pa lang itong nakita natin kasi 'di natin alam 'yung mga nakapangalan sa ibang tao."
Trillanes reiterated that he would resign from the Senate and withdraw his vice presidential bid if Duterte can prove that his hands are clean of corruption by signing a waiver on Monday.
On Thursday, Trillanes dared Duterte to sign a bank waiver to prove that he has no hidden wealth amounting to P211 million, stashed in a branch of the Bank of the Philippine Islands in Pasig City.
At a press conference in Quezon City, Trillanes invited Duterte to meet him on May 2 at 11 a.m. at the BPI branch along Julia Vargas Avenue in Pasig to sign the waiver.
Asked for comment regarding the counter accusation of the Duterte camp that his claims are fabricated, Trillanes said, "Una, sinabi niya na ang isyu na ito ay fabricated. Eh hindi na sana nila poproblemahin kung saan ko kinuha ang impormasyon."
GMA News Online is contacting the Duterte camp for comment as of posting time.
However, Duterte called Trillanes' allegation "garbage" and "fabricated."
"Maniwala ba kayo ng mga ganoon? Hindi na tayo umabot ng endgame ng eleksyon. Kung hindi na ako nag-number one? Bakit hindi nila nilabas ito noon? Last two weeks [before the elections]," Duterte said. — LBG/KG, GMA News
