Duterte admits getting sick after elections

Presumptive president Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte on Monday admitted that he fell ill over the past week when he didn't appear before the media and the public.

In a news conference, Duterte said that his doctors suspected that he had pneumonia and was told to take several days of rest after the 90-day campaign period.

"Actually maam nagkalagnat ako e. You know why? Because my defenses were down, actually," Duterte told reporters.

"You are not talking to a young man. Yung immune system ko talagang bumaba. I was carrying the bacteria ng bronchial, nasuspek tuloy ako ng pneumonia," he added.

On top of the two days rest that he took after Election Day, Duterte said that his doctor told him to take a few more days of rest.

He indicated that he was already well.
