Palace denies shredding of documents
Executive Secretary Pacquito Ochoa Jr. belied reports of ordering Malacañang staff under the Office of the President to shred documents and communication records, a report on Unang Balita on Monday said.
A report surfaced on Saturday saying some Palace staffers were ordered to shred certain government documents and memoranda signed by outgoing President Benigno Aquino III and other Cabinet secretaries.
Ochoa said there was no such order, stressing that all these documents are archived in the Malacañang Records Office (MRO).
He said his office and the MRO do not have the directive to order transfer or shredding of documents.
Ochoa added that the current administration is now in the process of creating transition committees which will produce transition reports for the incoming administration. —Kiersnerr Gerwin Tacadena/KG, GMA News
