Ngek! 'Missing' COC for Iloilo City was inside ballot box all along
On Thursday, the joint panel of Congress sitting as the National Board of Canvassers suspended the counting of votes from Iloilo City after no COC was supposedly found inside the two ballot boxes for the area.
Senate canvassing panel chairman Aquilino Pimentel III noted that the COC was "missing" and only election returns (ERs) were found inside the ballot boxes.
The panel summoned election officials from Iloilo to find the missing COC.
During the resumption of canvassing on Friday, Iloilo City Board of Canvassers Chairman Jomar Alyzar Betita found a brown envelope inside one of the ballot boxes containing the missing COC — it turned out it had been there all along.
This made the lawmakers who examined the ballot boxes laugh at their mistake.
Camarines Sur Rep. Leni Robredo garnered 137,662 votes from Iloilo City, against Marcos who only garnered 33,778 votes.
According to the official tally, Robredo finished with 14,418,817 votes while Marcos had 14,155,344. Robredo led Marcos by only 263,473 votes. —JST, GMA News
