Kris Aquino is top donor to Leni Robredo campaign
Kris Aquino did not only lend her star power to the campaign of Leni Robredo, but also contributed millions of pesos to the successful vice presidential bid bid.
Robredo's list of contributors, submitted as part of her statement of contributions and expenditures, showed the actress and television host contributing P30.8 million. She donated four times, including three instances of P10 million each.
This makes the youngest sister of outgoing President Benigno Aquino III the top contributor in the said campaign.
She also appeared alongside Robredo in political advertisements and attending events to campaign for her and Liberal Party standard-bearer Mar Roxas.
Kris' sister, Viel Aquino-Dee, also contributed P1 million.
Robredo's list of contributors showed some 125 individuals whose donations amounted between P1 million to P5 million. Some of them carried same surnames.
Aside from them, more contributions were listed, ranging from about P10,000 to P500,000.
Robredo received the most contributions in the six-way vice presidential race, with cash donations reaching P406,106,250.19.
Aside from this, she received some P17 million of in-kind contributions, a bulk of which were the P16.8-million worth of advertisements listed under Oriental Mindoro Gov. Alfonso Umali Jr., LP treasurer.
Robredo is also the top spender in the vice presidential race with P418.6 million, entirely funded by contributors. She declared zero personal spending in her campaign. —JST, GMA News
