Duterte picks Lito Banayo for MECO, Liza Maza for NAPC
President Rodrigo Duterte has appointed Angelito Banayo as managing director and resident representative of the Manila Economic and Cultural Office (MECO) in Taiwan and Liza Maza as chairperson of the National Anti-Poverty Commission (NAPC).
The announcement was made through a press release on Friday.
Banayo used to serve as Postmaster General, Philippine Tourism Authority Administrator, and National Food Administrator in past administrations. MECO is the Philippines' representative office in Taiwan as a de facto embassy.
Maza, meanwhile is the former representative of the Gabriela Partylist and has been an advocate for the welfare of the poor and marginalized. She is the latest leftist personality to be appointed in the Duterte administration. — Trisha Macas/RSJ, GMA News
