Why President Duterte flew back to Davao City
A Malacañang official explained on Saturday why President Rodrigo Duterte flew back to Davao City on Friday night after a full day as the country's new chief executive.
Presidential Communications Secretary Martin Andanar told GMA News Online that Duterte returned to his hometown to get some rest before jumping to another workweek.
Andanar said Duterte will be back in Manila on Monday.
Before assuming the presidency last June 30, Duterte said he wanted to travel between Manila and Davao City every day because he considered his home as his "comfort zone."
Presidential son Davao City Vice Mayor Paolo Duterte on Friday said that his father will spend three days in Manila and another three days in Davao City.
Paolo, however, could not say where his father would be on Sundays.
"Baka sa simbahan. Hindi ko talaga alam," he said in jest. —ALG, GMA News
