Bongbong on electoral protest: I will not stop
Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. on Tuesday vowed to continue pursuing his electoral protest against Vice President Leni Robredo.
"Be assured that I will not stop until I show you the extent of the disenfranchisement and fraud committed in the last elections. This is for truth. This is for honest and credible elections. This is for our country’s future. This is for every Filipino," Marcos said.
Marcos issued his statement shortly after the Supreme Court, sitting as the Presidential Electoral Tribunal, said that it will issue a ruling on Marcos' electoral protest.
Earlier during a media briefing, SC Public Information Office chief and spokesman Theodore Te said: "The tribunal will issue a resolution on this matter in due course."
He did not elaborate.
Marcos welcomed the development.
"With the Presidential Electoral Tribunal acting on my election protest, I join the Filipino people in awaiting for a speedy, fair and objective trial to ensue," he said.
"Every citizen of this country deserves to know the truth and together we will uncover and expose what truly happened to our votes in the May 9 elections," he added.
Marcos lost to Robredo by a slim majority vote of more than 260,000 votes in the final and official tally by Congress sitting as the National Board of Canvassers. — Joseph Tristan Roxas/RSJ, GMA News
