Sun.Star: Makati City to install more cameras amid terror threat

Makati City plans to install 44 closed-circuit TV cameras (CCTVs) all over the city by next year. The new cameras would complement other CCTVs already installed in six major intersections throughout the city. Makati City Mayor Jehomar Binay said that the monitoring system would reinforce security measures already on the ground. Authorities have been on red alert to preempt sympathy attacks by groups allied with the Abu Sayyf Group (ASG) which is the subject of a massive military operation in Sulu and Basilan provinces. The CCTVs would be monitored by the Makati Command Center which is the city's 24-hour central communication and dispatching center. It would be used by Makati City’s emergency response units to track suspicious activities. Binay said the CCTVs also allow the command center to monitor city-wide traffic and flood situation. - Sun.Star
