Noy, sisters commemorate mom Cory's 7th death anniversary with Mass

Former President Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III and his sisters attended the Eucharistic celebration on Monday at the Manila Memorial Park in Parañaque City to commemorate the 7th death anniversary of their mother, former President Corazon Aquino.

Aside from remembering Mrs. Aquino, who died of colon cancer in 2009, the celebration also centered on giving thanks to the Aquino family, especially to Noynoy Aquino, who served as the country's president from June 2010 to June 2016.

“Thank you for the great service to our country,” according to Fr. Constantino Arevalo, who officiated the Holy Mass.

Meanwhile, Noynoy Aquino also took time to express his gratitude to everyone who has continued to show love and support for him and his family.

He said he is currently occupied with fixing his house, as well as planning several out-of-town trips to relax and enjoy his free time “na hindi naman sana tig-iisang oras lang.”

According to him, some of the places he wants to visit in the future are the Underground River in Palawan, Panglao Island in Bohol, and Boracay Island.

As of now, Noynoy Aquino said he wants to remain a private citizen after several years in public service. Before becoming president, he was a lawmaker that served both in the House of Representatives and in the Senate.

“Naging pangulo na ako. Ano pa ba? Wala. Hindi ko naiisip ang pagtakbo ulit, sa ngayon,” he said. —Bianca Rose Dabu/KBK, GMA News
