Espinosa family in Cebu fears for safety
Relatives of Albuera, Leyte Mayor Rolando Espinosa Sr. in Cebu have been fearing for their safety following President Rodrigo Duterte's call for him and his son Kerwin earlier this week to surrender or risk being killed, a TV report said Friday.
A "Balitanghali" report quoted one of the family members as saying that they have been seeing strangers following them around.
The mayor turned himself in last Tuesday.
Kerwin remains in hiding and was reported to have left for Malaysia on June 21, nine days before President Rodrigo Duterte assumed office on June 30.
The Espinosa family denied that Kerwin is hiding in their ancestral house in Cebu.
Kerwin has sent surrender feelers, Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Dir. Gen. Ronald "Bato" dela Rosa said Thursday.
No timeline has been set for his surrender. — Rose-An Jessica Dioquino/VVP, GMA News
