CHR to probe QC policemen in summary killings

The Commission on Human Rights (CHR) will initiate an investigation to determine the alleged involvement of policemen in the deaths of three suspected victims of summary execution in Quezon City early August, radio station dzBB reported Monday. Marie Cruz, CHR public information officer, was quoted as saying that the probe will start on Tuesday. The investigation was initiated after relatives of the victims personally asked the CHR for assistance. Cruz said that the probe will include police officials and members of the Project 4 Police Station. The unit is headed by Sr. Supt. Mario Garcia. The victims, identified as Raffy Alindres, 23, Leonito Bajin, 24, Joel Aldiguer, 24, used to work in a jeepney station along Katipunan avenue as "barkers" who call out to passengers and were last seen alive with policemen. The victims were arrested by the police on August 9 but were later released for lack of evidence. The next day, the bodies of the three were found along Katipunan Avenue in Quezon City and exhibited signs of torture. Their bodies also bore stab wounds. In an earlier interview, Bajin's sister, Lisa Baldo, said, "They killed humans. The two victims' children are still young and the wife of my brother is just about to give birth. They are innocent." - GMANews.TV
