PNP prepares terrorism, multiple murder raps vs. Davao blast suspect

Terrorism and multiple murder complaints are being prepared by the police against the suspect in the Davao City blast that left 14 people dead and at least 70 others injured.

Philippine National Police chief Director General Ronald dela Rosa said the complaints against the suspect are just being finalized by the police handling the investigation of the Davao City blast.

Dela Rosa, meanwhile, still declined to provide information on the identity of the suspects.

He hinted that the suspect belongs to a group which has the same ideology as the Abu Sayyaf Group.

"Pareho sila ng pananampalataya ng ASG, na they both pleged pledged allegiance to ISIS," the PNP chief said during his visit in his visit at the MIMAROPA regional police during the Police Service Anniversary on Saturday.

Dela Rosa on Thursday announced that they already have the "true identity" of the person behidn the Davao City blast.

He said that the suspect was the one who made, planted and detonated the bomb at the Roxas Night Market last September 7.

President Rodrigo Duterte, who was in Davao City during the bomb attack, had declared a state of national emergency on the account of lawless violence in Mindanao.

Dela Rosa said that the suspect, who had a massage minutes before the bomb attack, wore a face mask.

"Bakit nagpapamasahe na may takip dito sa alikabok, yung para bang motor, ayaw tanggalin tapos bihira magsalita, ayaw magsalita?" Dela Rosa told reporters at the MIMAROPA regional police headquarters.

The Davao City government is offering a P3-million reward for information that may lead to the arrest of the suspect. —report from John Consulta/Rie Takumi/ALG, GMA News
