6 fires hit Metro Manila, old couple die
Six fires broke out in Metro Manila on Wednesday, one razing a house in Parañaque and killing an elderly couple trapped inside. As of posting time, GMA 7's DZBB radio was reporting the sixth fire in a residential area along Dapitan Street in Sampaloc, Manila. The Parañaque fire occurred early morning at 41 Hernandez Street in BF Homes Phase III. The couple were identified Mario and Chit Ramos. Mario's remains were found in the bedroom while Chit's were in the bathroom. Four other fires occurred in the districts of Paco, Sampaloc, Sta. Cruz, and San Nicolas in Manila, between mid-morning to around 3 p.m. The Paco fire reached fifth alarm status. For just this month, authorities recorded a total of 13 fires in Metro Manila, destroying at least 205 houses with causing property damage estimated at P2.5 million.
