Aguirre on Trillanes’ plan to bolster Matobato’s claims: Trying hard in beating a dead horse
Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II on Monday shrugged off Senator Antonio Trillanes IV's plan to present evidence that would corroborate the claims of Edgar Matobato, a self-confessed hitman who implicated President Rodrigo Duterte in extrajudicial killings when he was Davao City mayor.
In a text message, Aguirre said Trillanes was "trying hard in beating a dead horse" in backing up Matobato, whose claims have been found to be inconsistent by some senators hearing the issue.
The Cabinet official also said Trillanes has "no credibility" to launch tirades against the President.
"One with no credibility attacking one (Duterte) with a trust rating of 91 percent. No chance to succeed," Aguirre said.
Trillanes will reportedly expound on the evidence aimed to bolster Matobato's claims in a privilege speech on Monday afternoon. — RSJ, GMA News
