Sebastian: Rumor has it ‘Makoy’ also De Lima’s lover

Convict Jaybee Sebastian on Monday claimed hearing rumors that an alias "Makoy" was also a lover of Sen. Leila de Lima.

At the resumption of the House hearing on the Bilibid drug trade, Sebastian said he heard about Makoy from fellow inmate and murder convict Hans Anton Tan.

Tan earlier testified at the House probe that Peter Co paid De Lima's alleged former security aide and nephew Jose Adrian Dera for the release of a Co's niece and her husband, who were nabbed in a buy-bust operation.

"Narinig ko po iyan [si Makoy] kay Hans Tan... Si alyas Makoy allegedly iyan daw ang bagong boyfriend ni ma'am," said Sebastian.

Earlier, Sebastian also alleged that De Lima's former security aide Joenel Sanchez was also her lover.

Sanchez denied Sebastian's allegation during the hearing.

In a previous hearing, Sanchez alleged that driver Ronnie Dayan and former Metropolitan Manila Development Authority rider Warren Cristobal were De Lima's lovers.

De Lima: I don't know anyone named Makoy

In an interview with reporters, De Lima said she does not know anyone of the alias Makoy.

De Lima said she wouldn’t be surprised if her critics would point to all her former security aides as her past boyfriends.

“For the record, wala akong lover ngayon. Wala akong boyfriend ngayon. Sana meron para meron namang nagaasikaso sa’kin ngayon. I am in my lowest moment because of what’s happening to me,” De Lima said.

“Tama na ‘yan, babae ako. Respetuhin niyo naman ang pagkakababae ko. Baka sa susunod sabihin nila lahat ng security ay boyfriend ko,” the senator added.

Another witness, Noel Martinez, claimed in his testimony before the House panel that Sebastian had told him that Makoy had replaced Sanchez as the one collecting drug money for De Lima.

"Si alyas Makoy na ang pumupunta sa Bilibid para kumuha ng pera," Martinez said earlier.

Martinez had claimed that Sebastian, whom he described as Sigue-Sigue Commando commander and chair of the Presidio Side at the NBP maximum security compound, asked for his help in February 2013 to gather funds for De Lima's senatorial bid.

Sebastian denied Martinez's accusations.

"Narinig lang nila iyang kuwento kay Makoy sa Building 14... Nagsisinungaling si Martinez, partikular sa sinasabi niyang iyan," said Sebastian. — with Kathrina Charmaine Alvarez/ALG/RSJ, GMA News
