Jaybee Sebastian takes center stage in House hearing on Bilibid drugs
Convicted kidnapper and carnapper Jaybee Sebastian, an important figure in the alleged illegal drug trade inside the New Bilibid Prison, attended Monday's hearing by the House justice committee on the issue. A gang leader inside the NBP and was a victim in a stabbing attack weeks ago, Sebastian joined other witnesses in claiming that Senator Leila de Lima's campaign in the 2016 elections was partly funded by drug money. He also belied several statements about him, including his being a government asset and his being an "untouchable" inside the NBP.
Here are some of the highlights of the hearing that lasted for over 13 hours, or from morning to late night:
Other issues also cropped up during the hearing, among them a proposal to abolish the Bureau of Corrections, that Rosanna Roces was allegedly a supplier of women to inmates, and the fact that cellphones cost more to smuggle into the national penitentiary than a kilo of shabu. —graphics by Jannielyn Ann Bigtas/KBK, GMA News
