Matobato released after posting P30,000 bail
Confessed hitman Edgar Matobato has been released from detention at Camp Crame.
Matobato was fetched by a certain lawyer Jude Josue Sabio at 3:22 pm, according to a guard at the PNP Custodial Center.
He was ordered arrested after missing his arraignment for an illegal possession of firearms charge on October 4.
Matobato hit the headlines in September when testified before a Senate inquiry that President Rodrigo Duterte ordered the killing of suspected criminals in Davao City.
Trillanes’ custody
In a press statement, Senator Antonio Trillanes IV said his office has resumed its protective custody over Matobato.
"Mr. Edgar Matobato was able to post bail at the Quezon City Regional Trial Court this morning through his lawyer, Atty. Sabio," he said.
He added Matobato was then processed for release by the Custodial Center.
"Thereafter, around 3:30pm, my office has resumed providing protective custody to him," said the senator. —NB, GMA News
