DILG chief hints Ronnie Dayan may surface soon

Interior Secretary Mike Sueno on Monday hinted that Ronnie Dayan, the former driver-bodyguard of Sen. Leila de Lima who is being linked to the illegal drug trade inside the national penitentiary, may surface soon.

A report on "24 Oras" quoted Sueno as saying that Dayan may come out soon though he did not elaborate.

Sueno also refused to confirm if Dayan is already in government custody.

"Will it matter kung this week o next week [siya lalabas]? Basta lalabas lang siya," Sueno said in the report.

Asked when is the appropriate time for Dayan to come out, Sueno played coy. "That time will come. It will come," he said.

"Hindi natin masabi [kung kailan siya lalabas] kasi may mga ginagawa pang hakbang," Sueno said.

De Lima, whose campaign for senator in the 2016 elections was allegedly partly funded by convicted drug lords in the New Bilibid Prison, has admitted having had a relationship with Dayan that lasted for a few years.

A former Justice secretary, De Lima has denied benefiting from the illegal drug trade inside the NBP. Dayan is her alleged bagman. —KBK, GMA News
