Dayan: Affair with De Lima at 'Signal No. 1' when I met Kerwin

The relationship of Senator Leila de Lima with her then-bodyguard and driver, Ronnie Dayan, was already on the rocks when he started receiving money for her from suspected drug lord Kerwin Espinosa in 2014.

Dayan disclosed the state of his affair with De Lima upon questioning by Majority Floor Leader Rodolfo Fariñas at the resumption of the House justice committee’s probe on the drug trade inside the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) Thursday.

After recalling his and Espinosa’s initial meeting at the parking lot of SM Mall of Asia to receive the supposed payoff for De Lima in August 2014, Dayan said he gave the paper bag containing the money to the then-Justice Secretary at her Parañaque house.

Fariñas interjected and asked Dayan: “Noong mga panahon na yan malakas pa ang pag-iibigan niyo?”

Dayan said in response: “Medyo signal number 1 na lang po sir. Medyo mahina na po.

“Anong pinakamataas na scale na sinapit niyo?” Fariñas pressed on.

“Umabot din po siguro ng mga hanggang Signal No. 5 sir,” Dayan said.

Dayan has admitted to receiving money five times from Espinosa for De Lima in 2014.

He said Espinosa handed him money for De Lima once in August 2014, once in October 2014, and three times in November 2014. The first four times of their meeting was at a shopping mall in Pasay City. The last time Espinosa gave money was at the parking lot of the place where Espinosa was then staying in Baguio City. --JST, GMA News
