Aguirre: NBI now searching for Peter Lim for 'additional case buildup'

Authorities are now searching for Peter Lim after self-confessed drug distributor Kerwin Espinosa recently implicated the businessman in the narcotics trade, Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II said Tuesday.

"Hinahanap na si Peter Lim for additional case build up (by the National Bureau of Investigation)," Aguirre told reporters.

Espinosa said in a Senate hearing on November 23 that he knew the businessman through a certain Jaguar, whom he identified as the late drug lord Jeffrey Diaz.

Diaz allegedly sourced his drug supplies from Lim.

The NBI has said that Lim, who met President Rodrigo Duterte a few months back to deny that he was a drug dealer, is the same man referred to by the President in the drug matrix released on July 7.

"We were able to establish that the Peter Lim who appeared before the President and the NBI is one and the same Peter Lim and the he is the same Peter Lim who is the alleged drug lord of Cebu," NBI spokesperson Ferdinand Lavin said in a chance interview.

"The second part of the investigation, as to whether or not Peter Lim is indeed a drug lord, that is ongoing." —JST, GMA News
