Typhoon Nina leaves trail of destruction in Bicol on Christmas Day


Typhoon Nina left destruction in its wake as it crossed the Southern Luzon on Christmas Day.

Nina made its first landfall in Catanduanes before crossing a body of water to make a second landfall in Camarines Sur.

Also hard hit is the province of Albay.

The strong winds and heavy rains caused damage to property and crops all over Bicol region.

All tropical cyclone warning signals have been lifted early Tuesday morning as Typhoon Nina weakened into tropical storm as it moved away from the Philippine Area of Responsibility.

As of 8 a.m. Tuesday, the NDRRMC said 25,959 families were affected by the typhoon in CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, Bicol and Eastern Visayas regions. —Jessica Bartolome/NB, GMA News
