Berroya elected LRTA administrator
Retired police general Reynaldo Berroya has been unanimously elected as the Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) administrator.
"I'm committed to support DOTr [Department of Transportation] Secretary Arthur Tugade's initiative to improve the conditions of our mass transit system in order to provide a safe, reliable, efficient and convenient travel to our commuters," Berroya was quoted in an LRTA press release.
The LRTA manages the LRT-2 system. It also oversees the Light Rail Manila Corporation, the private operator and maintenance contractor of the LRT-1 system.
Berroya's election as the LRTA administrator came a few weeks President Rodrigo Duterte appointed him a member of the Board of Directors on December 5, 2016.

As a police officer, he held positions in the Intelligence Operations, Special Operations, ISAFP, Constabulary Anti-Narcotics Unit (CANU), Metrocom Intelligence, and Presidential Anti-Crime Commission.
He was also known to be one of Senator Panfilo Lacson's critics when the latter was still the PNP chief in 2000.
Meanwhile, according to LRTA, its Board of Directors is composed of the secretary of the DOTr as chairman as well as the secretaries of the Department of Public Works and Highways, the Department of Budget and Management, and the Department of Finance; the director general of the National Economic and Development Authority; the chairperson of the Metro Manila Development Authority and the chairperson of the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board; and two representative from the private sector. — VVP, GMA News
