JEE ICK JOO KIDNAP-SLAY PROBE

Dumlaos deny blood relation

PNP Anti-Kidnapping Group director Senior Supt. Glenn Dumlao and Anti-Illegal Drugs special investigation unit leader Supt. Rafael Dumlao denied Thursday that they are cousins as accused by SPO3 Ricky Sta. Isabel.

During the Senate hearing on the kidnap-slay of Korean businessman Jee Ick Joo, Sta. Isabel, the primary suspect in the case, said he was being set up by the Dumlaos.

“Magpinsang buo po sila,” Sta Isabel told the committee.

But Rafael said that he is from Quezon City while Glenn is from Vizcaya, Qurino.

Asked where he got his information, Sta. Isabel said it was Rafael who has been telling him that.

“Siya nagsabi na ‘pinsan ko ang nakaupo ngayon kaya kailangan maganda ang trabaho natin,’” he said.

Glenn also said that the evidence they have have been gathered during the time of his predecessor.

For her part, Senator Leila de Lima also said that she already researched the background of the two Dumlaos and found no connection.

Senator Panfilo Lacson then warned Sta. Isabel.

“Ricky, you be very careful dahil mabuburnout ka dito when you say so many things you cannot back by evidence or documents,” he said. — Amita Legaspi/RSJ, GMA News
