Fil-Am named White House assistant press secretary

Filipino-American Ninio Fetalvo has been appointed as Assistant Press Secretary in the Donald Trump administration.
Prior to his key role in the White House, Fetalvo, according to his LinkedIn profile, served as Deputy Director of Strategic Media of the 58th Presidential Inaugural Committee which handled the inauguration of President Donald Trump.
Fetalvo also held various positions for the Republican National Committee (RNC), including Asian Pacific American Press Secretary, Florida Communications Director, and Deputy Director of Media Affairs of the 2016 Republican National Convention.
In a report from the Asian Journal, the 23-year-old Fetalvo was asked by Press Secretary Sean Spicer to be his assistant on January 20. Spicer was his former boss at the RNC.
“It’s truly a very humbling experience. It’s a real honor to work on behalf of our country and the American people. I’m really excited to see what President Trump and Vice President [Mike] Pence accomplish to truly make the country great again,” he said in an interview from the publication in January 26.
Fetalvo's duties will include handling issues on labor, education, transportation, veterans affairs, and education.
“Being at this position in the White House really excites me to just be able to help communicate and emphasize the policies that [are] really going to make our community better and more prosperous,” Fetalvo said in the same interview.
Fetalvo is the son of Filipino immigrants from Bicol and has graduated from George Washington University with a degree on political communication. —Joseph Tristan Roxas/LBG, GMA News
