PHIVOLCS conducts safety inspection of Surigao infrastructures

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) has announced that it will be working closely with local governments in areas affected by the recent magnitude 6.7 quake in Surigao del Norte.

In a story aired on GMA News To Go on Wedensday morning, February 15, PHIVOLCS scientists said they had already inspected the Anaw-Awon bridge and its surroundings in Surigao City for damage just the day before.

PHIVOLCS also checked in on the damage and safety of structures in San Francisco, particularly the town's streets, its church, and the two-storey San Nicolas High School.

Aftershocks continued to take place even while the inspections were ongoing. — TJD, GMA News
