Wife to sleepless Erap: Be strong, God never sleeps

For two nights, former President Joseph Estrada was restless and sleepless, apparently consumed by the thought of his fate when the antigraft court rules on his P4.1-billion plunder case that was tried for over six years. Estrada's wife, Luisa "Loi" Ejercito told this to GMA News, Wednesday morning with a cracked voice, as she further related how the ousted leader's family, especially his siblings, got more fidgety about the verdict that will be read by the Sandiganbayan at 9 a.m., immediately after the opening prayer. "Two days na di siya nakatulog...Pati ako di ako nakatulog...Ang sabi ko sa kanya, ang Diyos hindi natutulog. I told him to have faith, trust and confidence...na tanggapin lahat natin ito, (He was sleepless for two nights. I was not able to sleep too. I told my husband that God never sleeps. I told him to have faith, trust and confidence and have the courage to accept everything)" she said. Loi said she witnessed how her husband changed while suffering from detention. "Naging mas spiritual s'ya. (He became more spiritual). He was humbled." She said she will never ever forget the time when Estrada was detained at Fort Santo Domingo in Sta Rosa, Laguna. Loi said it was there that her husband lived the debilitating life of a prisoner. "Di ko makakalimutan hanggang buhay ako...pati 'yong wires, 'yong mga kandado...'yong susi d'on pa sa malayo. Kalaunan ng gabi ng kumakandidato ako (for senator) di ako pinapasok, umuulan, nag-iisa ako, (I will never ever forget for the rest of my life when my husband was detained in Laguna. The area was fenced with wires, it was locked up and you can't easily get the key. One night, when I was still campaigning for senator, I went to Laguna to see my husband. It was raining, I was alone and they did not allow me to see him)" she said. But Loi said the Estrada family "will no longer be affected by any humiliation because we have been humiliated before." She said she has already forgiven everyone who conspired against her husband, except for one person. She, however, refused to identify the individual. She did not respond to the query if she was referring to former Ilocos Sur governor Luis "Chavit" Singson, the longtime friend of Estrada who stood as primary witness during the ousted leader's trial. - GMANews.TV
