Duterte picks Taguig judge to replace Sara's mother-in-law at CA
President Rodrigo Duterte has chosen a Taguig City judge to replace retired Associate Justice Agnes Reyes-Carpio, mother-in-law of his daughter Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte, at the Court of Appeals (CA).
Duterte appointed Judge Louis Acosta to the CA post on March 2, the Supreme Court Public Information Office said on Friday.

Acosta is the brother of another CA justice, Francisco Acosta, a classsmate of Duterte at the San Beda College of Law.
Acosta beat out five other judges for the position vacated by Reyes-Carpio, who reached the mandatory retirement age of 70 last December 1.
Reyes-Carpio's husband, Atty. Lucas Carpio, is the sister of Ombudsman Conchita Carpio-Morales and cousin of Supreme Court Senior Associate Justice Antonio Carpio.
Agnes and Lucas' son Mans Carpio is Sara Duterte's husband.
Duterte also recently appointed two San Beda Law alumni for two vacancies in the SC, namely, Associate Justices Samuel Martires and Noel Tijam. — MDM, GMA News
