Mindanaoans dominate top 10 PNPA grads


Mindanaoans dominated the top 10 graduates of Philippine National Police Academy, seven of them coming from the southern part of the country.
 
 
On Thursday, PNP chief Director General Ronald dela Rosa presented the top graduates of the PNPA Class Masidlak (Mandirigmang Ahon sa Silangan Ipaglaban ang Bansang may Dangal, Layunin at Katarungan).

It's an honor
 

Enca said he is honored to graduate from PNPA and be able to serve the country.

“Being a Mindanaoan, it is a privilege po lalo na po grumaduate na number 1 sa PNPA. Isa pong karangalan para sa amin na makapaglingkod sa bayan regardless kung saan kami galing,” he said during the press conference.

Omar, a member of Badjao Samal ethnic group, said he was also grateful for the chance to be part of PNPA. “Sa Academy, kung may issue man dahil sa Badjao ako, there’s no such thing po. In the academy, we have intercultural understanding,” he said.

Dela Rosa said 22-year old Enca will be receiving the Presidential Kampilan award and a Plaque of Merit for topping the class, while Omar will be receiving the Vice President Kampilan Award and a Plaque of Merit.

Layug, on the other hand, will be taking the Secretary of Interior and Local Government Kampilan Award and a Plaque of Merit.

A total of 144 graduates will receive a degree of Bachelor of Science in Public Safety during the commencement exercise on March 24 and will enter with the rank of inspector in their respective safety bureaus.

Of the graduates, 98 will join PNP, 84 of them male, 14 female; 31 will go to the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, 25 of them male, six female; and 15 will join Bureau of Fire Protection, 13 male and two female. — RSJ/KBK, GMA News
