SEND HUMBA, SARA SAYS

Loved ones take to Facebook to greet Duterte on 72nd birthday

President Rodrigo Duterte's loved ones on Tuesday took to Facebook to share their heartwarming messages for the Chief Executive on occasion of his 72nd birthday.

Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte shared a photo with Duterte taken during the christening of her youngest son, Marko Digong.

In her greeting, she cited her dad’s sartorial choice for the celebration.

“I just realized that you wore a black shirt during the baptism,” she wrote in Visayan on Facebook.

“Happy Birthday Digong. Send humba [braised pork belly with sugar] here in our house for lunch, thanks. Good health cheers,” she added.

Davao City Vice Mayor Paolo Duterte also expressed his love for Duterte on his Facebook page.

“To my father, the great President of the Philippines… Thank you very much for risking your life for our nation,” he said also in Visayan.

“Pa, we’re always on your side to support you and fight with you for the good of our beloved Philippines,” he added.

Jocellyn, Duterte’s sister, also greeted him through a Facebook post.

“We are proud of you, not only because we are your siblings, but you have brought hope to a nation who has been hoping and praying for the CHANGE to come,” she wrote.

“Today you will be celebrating another birthday, this time the whole country will be one in their "wish"...that God will grant GOOD HEA[L]TH and peace., and that you will achieve happiness as well,” she added.

According to presidential spokesperson Ernesto Abella, Duterte would spend his birthday in a “simple” way.

“It’s usually a very quiet affair with family and friends. Very simple, something that suits his personality,” he said in a press briefing in Malacañang on Tuesday.

As the President did not have an official schedule on his birthday, he was able to spend time with his grandchildren at his home in Davao City.

Duterte was born on March 28, 1945 in Maasin City, Southern Leyte. —NB, GMA News
