CSC reminder: All gov’t employees must file SALNs by April 30

Government officials and employees only have until April 30 to file their sworn Statement of Assets, Liabilities, and Networth (SALN) for 2016, the Civil Service Commission (CSC) said on Saturday.

In a statement, the CSC reminded government employees that failure to do so shall be a ground for administrative disciplinary action, without prejudice to criminal and civil liabilities as may be provided in the law.

It is punishable by suspension of up to six months for the first offense, and dismissal from service for the second offense.

The SALN, which government officials and employees declare annually, should contain their assets, liabilities, net worth, business interests, and financial connections, as well as relatives in government service within the fourth degree of consanguinity or affinity as of the end of the preceding year.

Officials and employees holding career positions under temporary status are required to file their SALN.

Casual workers, those with position title of laborer, and those serving honorary capacity are exempted.

Each government agency must have its own Review and Compliance Committee (RCC) to ensure the completeness of declarations in the SALN, the CSC said.

CSC Chairperson Alicia dela Rosa-Bala encouraged government workers to file as soon as possible.

"We remind government workers to file their SALN as early as possible to give the RCC ample time to evaluate the submissions," Bala said. — Jessica Bartolome/MDM, GMA News
