IAS probes Nobleza, to charge her with conduct unbecoming an officer, grave misconduct

Supt. Maria Cristina Nobleza is set to be charged with conduct unbecoming an officer and grave misconduct as the PNP-Internal Affairs Service start its investigation on her alleged ties with an Abu Sayyaf member.

On Wednesday, IAS Inspector General Alfegar Triambulo said the notice requiring Nobleza to submit her answer to the charges is expected to be served within the day.

“Nakapag-imbestiga na kami at tapos na. Ipre-charge na ang case. Baka today i-serve na ang notice requiring her to file answer to charges of conduct unbecoming of an officer and grave misconduct,” Triambulo said in a text message to reporters.

He said Nobleza’s act tarnishes the image of the police organization.

“Nakakatarnish sa PNP image ang act niya. Officer siya at nakipag-associate siya sa mga terorista,” he said.

He added the police officer also violated laws.

“May grave misconduct din kasi may violation of laws, rules, and regulations kasi may baril tapos walang papers. Umalis din siya sa post niya sa Davao walang permission,” he said.

Nobleza was deputy regional director of the Davao Regional Police Office's Crime Laboratory when she was arrested together with her alleged boyfriend Reenor Lou Dongon, his mother Judith, and a teenager after attempting to drive past a checkpoint in Barangay Bacani in Clarin town on Saturday.

Triambulo said they are also investigating other angles on the connection of Nobleza with Abu Sayyaf.

Nobleza has been relieved from her post following the arrest.

Philippine National Police chief Director General Ronald dela Rosa earlier said that he will make sure that Nobleza would be dismissed from the service. — RSJ, GMA News
