Palace on Atong Ang: No sacred cows in Duterte admin
There are no sacred cows under the administration of President Rodrigo Duterte, Malacañang assured on Tuesday, amid allegations that Charlie “Atong” Ang is involved in illegal gambling.
Presidential spokesperson Ernesto Abella in a briefing said that Ang would not be immune from the Duterte administration’s intensified crackdown against illegal gambling operations.
“Under the Duterte administration, there are no sacred cows,” he said.
Ang continued the operation of his virtual jai alai numbers, even if only the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) is authorized to conduct small town lottery (STL) nationwide.
“It will be under the proper authorities to make sure that Mr. Ang will comply,” Abella said.
Ang claimed that Justice Sec. Vitaliano Aguirre II and National Security Hermogenes Esperon wanted him killed because of his jai alai operations.
