Aviation undersecretary quits DOTr

Undersecretary for Aviation and Airports Roberto Lim has resigned from his position, Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade confirmed on Thursday.

"The first sentence of his resignation letter states: 'In the interest of the Department that has given me new learnings and experiences, I am tendering my irrevocable resignation...'," Tugade said in a text message.

He did not elaborate.

Undersecretary for Rails Cesar Chavez, in a separate text message to reporters, said that Lim's resignation is effective on May 31.

"[Lim] wants to go back to private [sector]," Chavez said, when asked for the reason of Lim's resignation.

Lim is the second Transportation official to quit the DOTr, following Noel Kintanar who resigned amid allegations of conflict of interest.

Prior to his stint as undersecretary, Lim has served as country manager for the International Air Transport Association. — BAP, GMA News
