Front-line troops in Marawi honored on Father's Day with gifts
Government troopers deployed on the front lines in Marawi City were surprised on Sunday, Father's Day, with gifts.
On board military trucks, their fellow military soldiers and policemen approached the front lines and distributed 2,000 food packs to the troops, according to a report by Emil Sumangil on Unang Balita on Monday.
The convoy first went to the Philippine National Police Advance Command Post at 2 p.m. to coordinate with them.
Col. Jose Cuerpo of the Philippine Army said he was tasked to make sure the items reach the troops on the front lines in time for Father's Day.
Aside from the food packs, the troops also received letters of support from the youth in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
The said letters were meant to boost the morale of the troops fighting the Maute group since May 23.
Compared to the first week of the military offensive, last weekend was marked with lesser fighting from the conflict zone. —KG, GMA News
