Duterte may go off script again in 2nd SONA —Andanar

Presidential Communications Secretary Martin Andanar on Saturday said there is a possibility that President Rodrigo Duterte will again go off script in his second State of the Nation Address (SONA).

"We can ano... we can already, based on last year's SONA, I suppose na we can assume na baka si Presidente Duterte ay mag-ano po siya... mag-adlib," Andanar said in a radio dzBB interview.

"The president is very passionate about issues and so passionate in running our country. So we assume that based on previous SONA, mag-adlib po si Presidente but let's wait and see. We can never say what will happen. One thing is for sure, we are ready for SONA," he added.

Andanar also hinted that Duterte again deliver a lengthy SONA.

"Well if we will based it on the average, usually it last from 40 to 45 minutes 'yung mga SONA ng nagdaang pangulo. Of course we give the president the freedom to say what he want to say. Alam niyo naman si Presidente napakapassionate po niyan sa mga issues," Andanar said.

In his first SONA, Duterte went spontaneous in speaking to the audience, which Malacañang said made it "more personal."

Meanwhile, Andanar said the Presidential Communications Operations Office will continue releasing videos showing the accomplishments of Duterte administration prior to the SONA on July 24.

"Next week po magpapalabas tayo ng mga video ng documentary next Friday para maipaliwanag po sa ating mga kababayan 'yung iba pang mga accomplishments ng Pangulo for the last year at meron din po tayong ipapalabas na mga testimonials ng mga beneficiaries na nakinabang po sa mga programa ni Pangulong Duterte," he said. —Anna Felicia Bajo/ALG, GMA News
