Former Pres. Noynoy Aquino says something odd about Parojinog raid

Former President Benigno Aquino said on Tuesday that there was something odd about last Sunday's Ozamiz City police raid in which 15 people, including Mayor Reynaldo Parojinog, were killed.

"Kung talagang pinutukan sila kagad, kumubli 'yung mga nasa loob. Medyo, dapat, mas maraming sugatan doon sa lumulusob," explained Aquino in a report on GMA 7 news program "24 Oras". "Parang na-achieve ng husto 'yung tinatawag na surprise. Pero ayon sa ulat nila, wala yatang surprise."

"Tanong to, wala ako don, wala akong nakapanayam na testigo don. Pero kagad doon napapagisip ka at ang dami ngang patay na parang minimal na minimal 'yung pwersang pumasok," he added.

Aquino said that the raid needed to be thoroughly investigated given the large number of fatalities.

"Maski successful ang operation, parating tinatanong, 'Ano ba ang magagawa natin dito para mas maganda 'yung susunod na operasyon? May pagkukulang ba tayo dito? May sumobra ba?'" Aquino said.

During Sunday's Ozamiz raid, police units served six search warrants on the houses of Mayor Reynaldo Parojinog, his daughter Vice Mayor Nova Princess Parojinog-Echavez,  a Parojinog relative who was a provincial board member, City Councilor Ricardo Parojinog, and one other.

Police said the Parojinogs' security officers shot at them, triggering the gun battle.

Nova Princess and brother Reynaldo Jr., were later brought to Camp Crame, where they will be charged with violating Section 11 of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act (possession of dangerous drugs) and Section 21 of the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act (acquisition or purchase and sale of firearms and ammunition).

They will also be charged with violating Section 3-A of Republic Act 9516 or "unlawful manufacture, sales, acquisition, disposition, importation or possession of a part, ingredient, machinery, tool or instrument used or intended to be used for the manufacture, construction, assembly, delivery or detonation." — Anna Felicia Bajo/DVM, GMA News
