DOF to conduct own probe of BOC over P6.4-B shabu mess
The Department of Finance will also launch its own investigation into the P6.4 billion shabu shipment from China that managed to give the Bureau of Customs the slip.
Finance Secretary Carlos Dominguez answered in the affirmative when asked by reporters if his office would be conducting its own probe after Congress wrapped up its two separate hearings on the shipment.
"It is better to do it in sequence so we have something to start with," Dominguez told reporters at the 113th founding anniversary celebration of the Bureau of Internal Revenue.
Dominguez refused to comment if he believes that Customs officials had a hand in the importation of the illegal shipments.
"We will wait for the results of the investigation of the legislature. We must respect them," he said.
He also said that it was the lawmakers' right to grill Customs Commissioner Nicanor Faeldon over the shabu shipment. — MDM/KVD, GMA News
