Pregnant woman, cousin among those hurt in Pasay City condo attacks
A woman who is seven months into her pregnancy is one of several residents in critical condition after a jealous boyfriend ran amuck inside a residential condominium in Pasay City on Tuesday night.
According to Oscar Oida's report on "24 Oras", Alberto Garan, who was eventually killed by responding policemen, wandered into the expectant mother's unit at the Central Park Tower Condominium where he tried to kill her and her cousin.
This was according to the victim's father Jose Sagarino.
"Dahan dahan pa nga raw 'yun pumasok eh, tinignan niya yung lahat ng bukas na pinto," Jose said.
Upon seeing the stranger, the pregnant April Joy Sagarino tried to push the door against Garan who was forcing it open.
"Ngayon tumakbo siya sa isang kuwarto which is nandooon din 'yung ano niya..pinsan...inatake niya 'yung anak ko," Jose said.
Garan stabbed April Joy in the hand, and grazed the side of her breast.
Her cousin Arlene Cordero trying to stop him but Garan still managed to stab the pregnant mother's backside, damaging her lungs.
April Joy was able to run out of the unit, leaving her cousin behind.
Arlene was stabbed at least eight times. She pretended to be dead and later crawled to the elevator.
"Nagpatay-patayan siya, tapos nang akala niyang patay na, umalis na siya," Jose said.
Both women are in critical condition at the Pasay General Hospital where they are seeking treatment with two other survivors, Bellcris Elorde and Margie Morales.
Meanwhile, Emelyn Sagun, Ligaya Dimapilis, Letecia Ecsiagan, former journalist Joel Palacios and a 12-year-old pupil Daisery Castillo were killed in Tuesday night's rampage. —Margaret Claire Layug/NB, GMA News
