Trillanes confronts Aguirre: Magaling ka pa sa scriptwriter ng Game of Thrones

Senator Antonio Trillanes IV on Thursday confronted Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II for saying that he was proving to be a "good scriptwriter" after he adverted to a scenario wherein one of the persons linked to the P6.4-billion shabu smuggling would be cleared of any involvement.

In a hearing on the Department of Justice's proposed P17-billion budget for 2018, Trillanes showed video and audio clips of Aguirre alleging the senator's involvement in a stabbing incident inside the national penitentiary and a couple more claims.

"Ang galing mo mag-tahi ng kwento... Hindi ba 'yun ang scriptwriter?" Trillanes told Aguirre during the Senate committee on finance's deliberations on the Department of Justice's proposed 2018 budget.

The senator made the statement in response to media reports quoting the Justice chief that he should try his hand his show business as he was proving to be a good scriptwriter.

Aguirre earlier made the comment after Trillanes alleged that the Cabinet official was setting the stage to absolve businessman Kenneth Dong in the smuggling of P6.4-billion worth of shabu from China.

Trillanes showed video clips of Aguirre's interview on News to Go last January wherein the latter implicated the senator in the stabbing of Jaybee Sebastian inside the New Bilibid Prison.

The justice secretary was quick to defend himself saying he was just quoting a report from the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG).

"That's an investigation of the CIDG. CIDG is not under the DOJ," Aguirre said.

Trillanes later on presented several other media clips of the Justice chief allegedly divulging "unconfirmed" intelligence reports.

In the video clip presented by the senator, Aguirre was stating during a Senate interview that the slain Korean businessman Jee Ick Joo was ordered killed by Korean mafia and hired scalawags in the PNP.

In another video clip played, the Justice chief was claiming in a radio interview that some Liberal Party stalwarts were plotting a people power revolution.

With this, Trillanes said, "Mas magaling pa kayo sa scriptwriter ng Game of Thrones."

Aguirre then said that the information he divulged were from sources, which he is not privy to identify.

"Napaka-gullible niyo mag-process ng information e," Trillanes said, advising the Cabinet official not to disclose information if he himself has not verified its authenticity. —NB, GMA News
